Read about the festival below:

This event was launched in August 2017, with the aim of uniting African communities in Milton Keynes and also offering them a platform to showcase their culture to a wider Milton Keynes audience. Its aim is also to support and inspire young people by educating them about their own identity and heritage.

The definition of “African Diaspora Festival” is a broad one, but can be summarised as a day to unify Africans and create a sense of belonging through UBUNTU concept (“I am because we are”), display and sharing of Africa’s cultural richness through storytelling, food, dance, language and live band music etc.

The showcase feature of 2019 will be the Fashion Show. Brought together through community volunteers and nationally recognised personalities of African Heritage, it will celebrate the vibrancy, evolution and uniqueness of many African nations.

We hope to break down barriers that exist between the many diverse communities of Milton Keynes and welcome people to learn and contribute to the city we call home. It is a chance for the young and old to experience something new and familiar.
