We are looking for an experienced Oral Historian to conduct a series of Oral History interviews to collect stories as part of a Heritage Project.

This freelance role, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund is to manage aspects of a heritage project involving oral history . The Oral Historian  will oversee the collection and transcribing of local oral history of Caribbean migrants and their descendants in these two locations.

You will work with a video/camera technician, mentor volunteers and would be supported by Project Coordinator. You would source and conduct interviews with adults and descendants of The Windrush generation. This post will benefit an individual with a flair for local history and the skills to mentor others.  You will take responsibility for your own work load.

Applicants must be educated to at least degree level in history, culture arts or related fields, have proven experience of project management, a track record of at least one oral history project, excellent team working skills, the ability to lead volunteers, appropriate IT skills and the ability to act on their own initiative.
